Opening of Oxford Elementary School Delayed
RENEE HOLMES

The opening of Oxford Elementary School has been delayed.  Originally slated to open in August 2026, Oxford will not be ready for occupancy in time.  In an effort to prevent difficult mid-year disruptions for young students and families coming from multiple schools to attend Oxford, we have pushed the opening of our new elementary school to August 2027.

Despite the concerted efforts of architects and the construction team working on the school, significant rainy weather in the fall, compounded by extreme, unprecedented cold temperatures and multiple weeks of snow and ice, contributed to this delay.  Unexpected site conditions that required mitigation early in the construction process prevented all parts of the facility from being under roof prior to winter weather.

We are disappointed that Oxford will not open as originally planned but feel confident that the added time will be well worth it when the beautiful new facility welcomes students in August 2027.  In the meantime, we will pause the effective date of our redistricting plan.

Any student from Creekside, Eastern, Northern, or Scott County Middle School that would have been redistricted effective in August 2026 will remain at their current school for the 2026-2027 school year.

Families who reside in another attendance district but requested open enrollment to attend Oxford Elementary School will receive a separate communication that lists options available to them given the delayed opening of Oxford.

Due to continued growth in this part of our community, we know there will be a lot of students next year at Eastern.  In preparation, there are also some additional enrollment options for Eastern families to consider.  This information will be sent in a separate communication.  With a dedicated staff, we know they will continue to do great things at Eastern.

Impacted Creekside, Northern, and SCMS families can contact Brent Allen at 502-570-3040 to discuss other enrollment options available to them for next year.

Jenna Landacre Named Next Principal of Great Crossing High School
RENEE HOLMES

Jenna Landacre is the new principal of Great Crossing High School.  Landacre has served as assistant principal at GCHS since 2022.  She served as assistant principal at Bourbon County Middle School and dean of students at Bourbon County High School before beginning her tenure in Scott County.  She taught physical education in Harrison County before moving into administration.

At Great Crossing, Landacre is a proven instructional leader.  She has worked to implement a standardized school-wide grading system and data-driven testing protocols for the school’s EL program.  By analyzing data and targeting specific student needs, GCHS has celebrated measurable improvements across all academic areas. Landacre is already an important part of the GCHS team which focuses on school culture, building leadership capacity, and supporting staff and student morale while encouraging academic excellence.

Feedback from students, staff, parents, and community members on a recent community survey brought valuable insight to the principal selection committee.  Stakeholders expressed their support for Landacre, the positive school culture she has nurtured, and the strong relationships she builds with both students and staff.

"Jenna Landacre embodies the spirit and vision of Great Crossing High School and her promotion to principal is a testament to her dedication and instructional leadership,” stated Superintendent Billy Parker.  “Her proven ability to foster a positive school culture and drive academic improvement through data-informed strategies makes her the ideal choice. We are confident that Great Crossing will continue to achieve exceptional results under her leadership."

Landacre reflected on her new role, "I am deeply honored and truly humbled to be named the next principal of Great Crossing High School. To our students, staff, families, and the entire Warhawk Nation, I am excited to serve alongside you as we continue building on the strong foundation and success of this incredible school.”

Landacre holds a Bachelor of Arts in health/physical education, a Master of Arts in teacher leadership, principal licensure, and superintendent certification, all from Asbury University. She and husband Josh have two children.

Jenna Landacre will officially begin in her new role on July 1, 2026 upon the retirement of Principal Joy Lusby.

Kelly Beckett Named Director of Secondary Schools
RENEE HOLMES

Kelly Beckett has been named the new Director of Secondary Schools for Scott County Schools.  Beckett has served as principal of Scott County Middle School since 2023.

“The success of Scott County Middle School speaks for itself and is evidenced by consistently high levels of student achievement at the blue-rated school,” stated Superintendent Billy Parker.  “I have no doubt Mrs. Beckett will bring the same level of commitment to student achievement across our district as she supports principals and teachers in her service to all of our middle and high schools.”

“Accepting the role of Director of Secondary Schools is both a huge honor and responsibility,” Beckett reflected. “I’m committed to supporting our principals and teachers, strengthening opportunities for every student, and leading with collaboration, integrity, and a deep belief in the potential of our schools.”

Under Beckett’s leadership, we look toward a dynamic future filled with strong instructional practices and new and enhanced opportunities for students.  Beckett will finish the year strong at Scott County Middle School before officially starting in her new role on July 1, 2026.
