This school year, Scott County Schools have introduced The Leader in Me initiative across the district, inspired by Stephen R. Covey's renowned book, The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People. This initiative aims to create a unified leadership culture within the district, ensuring that all students, regardless of their grade level or school, can communicate effectively using the same leadership principles.

The seven habits that form the foundation of the initiative are: Be Proactive, Begin With The End in Mind, Put First Things First, Think Win-Win, Seek First to Understand, Then to Be Understood, Synergize, and Sharpen the Saw.

To introduce these habits to students, Phoenix Horizon Community (PHC) have incorporated a daily session called PHamily Time. Each day, students are introduced to a new habit through a video and its definition. This structured approach ensures that every student is familiar with the habits and understands their significance.

On August 23, 2024, Phoenix Horizon hosted a Leader in Me kickoff celebration. The event, attended by students, parents, guardians, and central office staff, began with a light breakfast followed by a presentation on the seven habits and how they are integrated into the daily curriculum. As a part of the celebration, each student received a shirt with "The Leader In Me at PHC" emblazoned on it, marking a spirited beginning to the school year. 

This initiative promises to be an excellent way to foster leadership and personal growth in students, setting a positive tone for the year ahead.
