Great Crossing High School, Scott County High School, and Phoenix Horizon Community have been working with district leaders and local health officials to develop a plan of activities for this spring. Safety and the well-being of students remains a top priority.
We are thrilled to announce that all three schools will host traditional in person graduation ceremonies and will offer several other special events to help students commemorate this milestone. However, to prevent a super-spreader event, there will be no prom and no project graduation offered by any high school in Scott County this year.
Each school will host its own graduation ceremony and each will include their entire graduating class. Ideally, graduation for both Great Crossing and Scott County High School will take place outside at Birds Nest Stadium. The rain plan for each school will move the program into their respective gyms. Expect ticket limits at both the outdoor and indoor venues.
Phoenix Horizon has historically held its graduation program in the gym of Scott County High School. They will do the same this year. Specific dates and times for each graduation ceremony will be released after the Scott County Board of Education meeting on March 25.
After such a positive response last year, we will again host a community graduation parade. We are so happy to add the parade to our list of local traditions! In the coming weeks, students and families can also expect details about other graduation traditions like senior breakfast and swag bags.
We look forward to celebrating the Class of 2021 in a safe environment. Look for more details from each school about upcoming spring activities.
