Jason Hardin brings over 20 years of experience in the field of television broadcasting to the Intro to Media Arts Village at ECS. After graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Telecommunications (with a TV Broadcasting emphasis) from the University of Kentucky in 1996, Mr. Hardin began working at WKYT, the CBS affiliate in Lexington, Kentucky. During his 16 years there, his jobs included studio camera operator, audio engineer, Chyron graphics operator, technical director, director, and production supervisor. Mr. Hardin has been an integral part of many live Big Blue Network sports broadcasts, director of several coaches' shows, and many breaking news events, including the tragic crash of flight 5191 in August of 2006.
Mr. Hardin also worked as the Production Manager at WRTV in Indianapolis where he led the production crew's coverage of such large events as the Indy 500's Breakfast at the Brickyard, The Circle of Lights, and the continuing coverage of the Southside Explosion, in which he and the news team were nominated for a Regional Emmy Award.
Mr. Hardin joined Elkhorn Crossing School in 2016 as Media Arts Instructor in the Introduction to Media Arts Village. He loves bringing his passion and knowledge for the many forms of media to the students, and believes ECS provides wonderful opportunities for students to use colloborative and critical thinking skills to bring their projects to another level.
Mr. Hardin grew up in Berea, Kentucky and currently resides in Richmond with his wife, Angela (an Elementary Teacher) and 2 boys. He is currently working toward his Masters of Arts in CTE (Career and Technical Education) from Eastern Kentucky University.
