Ms. Torski’s Science Class

Non-Traditional Instruction (NTI) Plans


Follow the schedule below for each NTI day.  Assignments are due the day we return after an NTI day(s).  The NTI day assignments cannot be uploaded to the online classroom due to copyright laws.  

I am available for help on NTI days from 9-12 and 1-4 by the following:

Student Assignments:


Day 1 - "Facebook for Scientists"; Read the scientist’s mini-biography and design the
             cover photo, profile photo, and fill in the “about box” (see rubric)


Day 2 - "Facebook for Scientists”, continued; Fill in the remaining fields on the facebook
             template including the status, relevant advertisements (sponsors), recent
             activities, and friends.


Day 3 - "Effects of Video Games on the Brain" Read the paragraphs and complete
             questions 1-4 and graph the results


Day 4 - “Effects of Video Games on the Brain", continued;  Read the paragraphs and
             complete questions 5-7, read “The Negative Effects of Video Games” and
             answer the final 2 questions 


Day 5 - "Breathing and Peeing in Space;" Read article and answer questions 


Day 6 - ''Parasites create Zombie Snails;" Read article and answer questions


Day 7 - "The Science of Sleep;" Read article and answer questions 


Day 8 - "Is it Ironman? No, it's Alloyman!”, Read article and answer questions.


These assignments reinforce graphing, data analysis, and reading skills with some health science crossover.


These assignments will count toward the content and work ethic portions of the ECS report card.
