Maria Bennett is the new Interim Principal of Stamping Ground Elementary School. Bennett has previously served Scott County Schools for seven years as both a teacher and Dean of Students at Anne Mason Elementary. Bennett believes her time at Anne Mason and the many opportunities she has received as part of Scott County Schools have strengthened her leadership skills and prepared her for this new role.
“I am so very thrilled to join the Stamping Ground family. I was drawn to Stamping Ground for many reasons: a warm and inviting staff, fabulous students and families, high expectations for all students, and a school that is at the heart of its community.”
Stamping Ground Elementary School is recognized as a Proficient and Progressing school. With an enrollment of around 350, the community school serves as the center of the Stamping Ground community. Bennett is excited to partner with teachers, staff, and families to continue Stamping Ground’s journey of excellence.
“So much of what is going on at Stamping Ground Elementary aligns with my own vision for the school. I'm excited to work with the staff and families to preserve all of the wonderful things about the school as we work together to achieve great things,” Bennett commented.
A native of Lexington, Bennett earned her degree in Elementary Education from Georgetown College before completing a Master’s program in Instructional Leadership at Eastern Kentucky University. Maria Bennett and husband Mark have one son, Graham. Her husband serves the community as a firefighter for Scott County Fire Department. The Bennett’s reside in Georgetown.
Principal Bennett can’t wait to meet students and families during the school’s Open House which starts at 3:00pm for kindergarten and 6:00pm for grades 1-5 on Friday, August 1st.
