Elkhorn Crossing Earns Winner's Circle Designation

In March 2013, more than 43,000 Kentucky teachers completed the Teaching, Empowering, Leading, and Learning (TELL) survey to gather perceptions on working conditions in Kentucky schools.  Results offer teacher perspective on topics related to: Time, Facilities/Resources, Community Support/Involvement, Managing Student Conduct, Teacher Leadership, School Leadership, Professional Development, Instructional Practices/Support, and New Teacher Support.  The survey illustrates the significant relationship between student achievement and positive working environment in schools.

When initial survey results were released in August, Elkhorn Crossing School was highly regarded as one of 49 schools distinguished in the category of Honorable Mention.

Confirmed today, Elkhorn Crossing School has earned the Winner’s Circle Award to be presented at the 2013 Continuous Improvement Summit.  This accomplishment ranks Elkhorn Crossing School among the top 10 schools in the state on the TELL survey of educators.

Representative of the positive culture at the school, teachers at Elkhorn Crossing School report reasonable class size and focus on instruction with minimal interruption, access to reliable and advanced technology, and overwhelming support from parents and community.  Students at the school understand and demonstrate high expectations for behavior.  Teachers are recognized as experts in their respective fields, are empowered to make decisions, and work together as a cohesive team.  Administrators and faculty have a shared vision for the school and adhere to high professional standards for instruction.

Congratulations to Elkhorn Crossing School on this outstanding achievement.  Principal Michelle Nichols and a team from ECS will receive the Winner’s Circle Award on September 30, 2013.
