COVID Protocols and Procedures

Scott County Schools will remain mask optional for students, staff, and guests.  Masking will NOT be required on school grounds, in individual classrooms, or on school buses in Scott County.  Masks will be optional for students, staff, and visitors on buses and in school facilities.

All decisions regarding COVID protocols and procedures are made in partnership with our local health officials.

On-site COVID testing at school facilities will no longer be available.  Last year, Test to Stay was funded by the state and that funding expired on June 30, 2022.

If a student or staff member tests positive for COVID-19, they will be required to isolate at home returning to school/work five (5) days from the onset of symptoms or receiving the positive COVID test as long as symptoms are resolving AND the individual has been free of a fever for the past 24 hours.  A negative test is NOT required to return to school for students or staff members.

Beginning last spring, we stopped conducting contact tracing in our schools and no longer required quarantines for those exposed to COVID-19.

Athletes who have tested positive must still complete the KHSAA Return to Play process before returning for athletic practice and competition.  In some cases, a primary care physician (PCP) may waive the Return To Play process, but that would be evaluated on a case-by-case basis by the student-athlete’s PCP.  See the school athletic trainer or school athletic director for more details.

School nurses are available at each school to address specific questions and offer assistance as needed.

At the time of this posting, COVID testing is available Monday-Friday from 8am-4pm at Wedco District Health Department located at 300 East Washington Street in Georgetown.  No appointment necessary.  The clinic offers vaccines and boosters by appointment.  Call (502) 863-3986 for more information.
