YEARBOOKS ARE HERE! Students may pick up reserved, or purchase a yearbook for $30.00 from Mrs. Campbell in her room. If paying by check, please make checks payable to SCMS. GET YOURS BEFORE THEY ARE SOLD OUT!!!
SCMS TRACK - Our girls team is currently ranked 8th in the state and our guys team is ranked 7th in the state. Last week our girls and boys teams took 1st place at the All-Conference Meet. Last night they won our Scott County “Best in the County” Meet. We’re proud of all our student athletes and if you have a chance, remind them that you are too!
Our State Meet will be next Saturday at Dunbar High School. We have high hopes for our team! Come out and support the Cardinals if you aren’t doing anything! Let’s have a great day and finish strong! GO CARDS!
8TH GRADERS - Mrs. Abney has the 9th Grade Reading assignment it will be available for students to pick up in the Guidance Office on the last day of school after the Awards Program.
END OF YEAR SCMS AWARD PROGRAMS - Awards Programs for 6th Grade will be held today, Friday May 18th at 9:00 am; 7th Grade today, Friday May 18th at 1:00 pm. 8th Grade Monday, May 21st at 9:00 AM.  All Awards will be in the Cafeteria. 
PUBLIC LIBRARY ANNOUNCEMENT - The public library is kicking off summer with an yard party on May 22, the day after school gets out, from 6 to 8 p.m. for ages 12 to 18. Water games, hot dogs, ice cream, water melon eating contest, music and more. Bring your own squirt gun and come dressed to get wet!
Stop by the public library, pick up a book log and a flyer listing the summer programs for teens. 
Any teen turning in a book log will get a pass to the end of summer celebration at the Scott County Water Park in August.
PUBLIC LIBRARY ANNOUNCEMENT - The Scott County Public Library is having a photography show this summer for photographers ages 12 to 18. The theme for the show is "Own the Night" and photographs should reflect this theme in some way. Pieces need to be matted or mounted for hanging and the deadline for entries is June 8. 
6TH ANNUAL HOMERUNS AND TOUCHDOWNS CAMP – As the Head Football Coach (Jim McKee) at Scott Co. HS and as a coach in our Scott Co. Youth League Baseball Organization I am PUMPED up to announce our 6th Annual Homeruns and Touchdowns Camp, Friday May 25th from 5:30 to 9:00! It is for kids ages 6-12 and will include activities in both football and baseball. The $20 registration fee will provide each camper with a t-shirt and a meal. We will have tons of former players from both football and baseball to work the stations, included UK Wildcat Jay Willmott. Please pick up the brochure/registration form in the front office and get your registration in ASAP! If any questions exist please give me a call 859-983-3489!

*June 29th, 2012 Honors English and Honors English/Social Studies are due. Assignments must be turned in to Shaleen Gillispie @ Scott County High School from 9:00 AM to 12:00 noon.

INCOMING FRESHMAN BAND INFORMATION – 2012 High School camp dates for incoming freshmen are Wednesday, July 25th, Thursday, July 26th, Friday, July 27th, and Monday, July 30th and Tuesday, July 31st, 8:30 AM until 8:00 PM at Scott County High School. High School band camp forms ARE DUEby the LAST DAY OF SCHOOL. Band members need to turn in summer lesson forms by the last day of school. Extra forms are available in the band room. 
FINAL REPORT CARDS will go home with students on the last day of school Monday, May 21st.
We are pleased to invite your student to participate in the See Blue Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Camp June 11 – 15, 2012 at the University of Kentucky. The week-long day camp is designed to help students explore and integrate the STEM disciplines through hands-on projects and real world applications. Dates: June 11 – 15, 2012; Ages: All students entering 6th – 9th grades for the 2012-2013 school year; Cost: $200; Where: University of Kentucky, Mining and Mineral Resources Building;Activities: Instruction in engineering, mathematics, neurobiology, astronomy, and LEGO robotics. The Medical Career and Science Institute will be offering a “free” camp for 6-8 grade students on June 11-15, 2012 in Lexington at the Spencerian College on Industry Road.  The camp is hosted by the Bluegrass Healthcare Consortium so that students can jump start their career in the health field.  Applicants are required to write a 300 word essay.  Activities include a visit to the “Sullivan School of Pharmacy”  in Louisville and the “Minimally Invasive Surgery Lab/Outreach Science Center” at the University of Kentucky, as well as other hands-on activities and clinical observation opportunities.  You may contact Marsha Landin at marsha.landin@ky.gov for more information, or pick up an application in the guidance office.
