Lemmie Message from Mrs. Mays

Lemons Mill Family,

I want to share that I have accepted a position as the Assistant Principal at Ashland Middle School in Ashland, KY for the 2018-2019 school year.    This came about suddenly within the past couple of weeks as my husband accepted a job with Ashland Independent Schools.  Many of you know that since 2015 my husband has been coaching college basketball and has lived away from home.  He spent two years in Valdosta, Georgia and last year in Owensboro, KY.  An opportunity now exists for us to be together as a family.

Five years ago, I was named the first principal of Lemons Mill Elementary and every day since it has been my honor and privilege to serve you and your children to the best of my ability.   Our faculty and staff have made it a priority to build student learning experiences through collaboration, communication, and celebration daily.  This school will forever be a part of who I am.  Thank you for this wonderful journey.

Our Scholastic Book Fair is a reading event that provides the books kids want to read. It's a wonderful selection of engaging and affordable books for every reading level. You will find MANY new titles that were different from the fall fair.

Reading for pleasure inside and outside of school has real and long-lasting benefits. It unlocks the power of information and imagination and helps children discover who they are. Readers make writers! Please make plans to come to our Book Fair and be involved in shaping your child's reading habits.

Check out this link to see information about the Fine Arts Night/Book Fair Event.  You will want to make plans to see the 3rd grade performance of Seussical, memorable art pieces, climb the rock wall and shop the book fair!  This event is taking place TONIGHT, March 6, 2018 from 5:00 - 7:00 PM.

Remember, all purchases benefit our school. See you at the Book Fair!

holiday PTA Volunteer Help for Holiday Shop

Holiday shop is just a few days away!  The holiday shop is currently scheduled for Tuesday-Thursday next week.  Our kiddos look forward to this time all year when they can shop for friends and family before the winter break.  The items are priced very affordably and this is a service provided by PTA for the students and their families.

We still need some additional adult hands to help make this event a success.  Please see the sign-up here -- https://signup.com/client/invitation2/secure/2118215/false#/invitation -- and consider whether you could give an hour or two next week sometime.

Please note:  Without additional volunteers on Thursday, that day will be cancelled and students will only be able to shop on Tuesday and Wednesday.  We will let you know by Friday the exact days of the Holiday Shop.

pumpkin Fall Parties at LME

It’s time for Fall Parties here at LME!  On Tuesday, October 31st your child will be celebrating in his or her classroom during their designated party time.  Your child is welcome to wear a costume to school on this day. We do have a few guidelines to ensure safety and fun for all involved.

  • Students may choose to dress up as a favorite book character, athlete, super hero or occupation of their choice.
  • Make sure the costume is comfortable; although there is a party at the end of the day, instruction will still take place as usual until party time.
  • Please no masks.
  • Please no face paint.
  • Please no weapons.

Please check information from your child’s teacher regarding specifics for each grade level party.  We look forward to celebrating with our students! Please remember that if students are signed out before 2:35pm it does count against their attendance.  We encourage ALL students to stay at school for the full day.  J
