Summer Enrichment Camp

Class Descriptions


  1. Enrichment for Beginners:   A three hour program taught by an experienced kindergarten teacher that will firm up early kindergarten skills.  Little campers will have fun with music, art, literature, games, etc. For those entering kindergarten in 2013.
  2. Ebony and Ivory:  Students will learn simple, beginning piano hand positions and play fun piano keyboard melodies.  There will be piano keyboard games, crafts and good times for all!  You’ll be surprised how much can be learned with 10 hours of instruction and practice.
  3. American Girl Doll Accessories:  Dress up your American Girl Doll for all of your special holiday celebrations!  Students will create, design and sew simple projects to accessorize for many of your favorite holidays!
  4. Welcome Sign Wood Project:  Get creative and design/paint your family a front porch welcome sign.  Students will be sanding and painting their own self-designed welcome sign decoration.
  5. Pet Shop Fun:   Do you love animals?  Are you thinking about adding a new pet friend to your home?  This class session offers life science and elementary biology concepts.  Participants will interact with various animal friends.  We will explore various pet habitats, care, animal coverings, adaptations, movement, and skills for being a responsible pet owner.  Please note:  This is a hands-on course that allows up-close interaction to a variety of animals.  Participants with animal allergies or other related health concerns should not choose this class.
  6. Toys ‘R Fun:   Do you love toys?  Do wonder how toys work?  This class session offers hands-on interaction to explore various physical science concepts.  This course allows up-close inspection of toys for properties, force and motion, types of energy, energy transfer and toy safety.  This course will feature traditional and popular toy concepts.  This class will be in a science lab setting.  This is a fascinating science course for both primary and intermediate students.
  7. Let’s Explore the Beach!  Do you love the beach and the ocean?  Are you planning an upcoming beach vacation this summer?  This session allows participants to learn earth science components through the study of animals and beach habitats.  Participants will be introduced to shoreline geology, sun safety, various beach creatures and critters in both fresh and salt water.  Where does sand come from?  We will investigate types of sand, erosion, water movement and waves and volcanoes.  This is the second summer offering for this hands-on investigative science lab course structured for both primary and intermediate students.
  8. Cheer  101:  Come learn the basics of cheerleading while having a blast! We will work on motions, jumps, dance and sidelines. We will also give an introduction to tumbling and stunting. Cheerleaders will learn a cheer to perform on the final day for their family and friends.
  9. Super Sticky, Stinky, Ooey, Gooey Science:  Learn about the wonders of science all around you. We will be learning and experimenting with fun hands-on activities. Physical science will be the focus of this course. Be ready to become a junior scientist. Warning: Science can be messy and lots of fun!
  10. Walk/Run Club:  Get fit while having fun! We will be learning healthy habits and benefits of exercise while participating in daily hikes, jogs and training exercises. Bring your running shoes and get ready for a fun trip.
  11. Great Balls of Fun:  Have fun improving your ball handling skills with everyone’s favorite ball games: baseball, basketball, football, dodge ball, soccer and other games taught by a certified P.E. instructor.
  12. Golf Fore Fun:  Learn the basics of golf from terminology and rules to hands-on skills.  So get on “par” and join in this swinging class. Equipment provided.
  13. Dramatic Play:  Students will harness their creativity through improvised, imaginative games and exercises to learn the fundamentals of acting, characters, storytelling and working together.  Through improvisational acting, students get to be both the playwright and actor in stories limited only to their imagination. Improvisational acting is a fun way to help improve a child's confidence and  communication skills
  14. Creating Characters:  This acting class focuses on using the body, voice and imagination to create characters and tell a story.  Through dramatic play, short monologues and scenes, students will have an opportunity to sharpen their acting skills in a non-competitive classroom environment. Everyone will get to be the star of the show!
  15. It’s Easy Being Green: Be an advocate for our planet.  After all, it’s the only one we have!  Learn about the environment and the effects we have on it while doing hands-on activities that promote   going green. Some of the activities will include planting and watching things grow, trash pick-ups     and up-cycling projects like making jewelry out of pop-tops. The class will be very hands-on and engaging and lots of fun, while learning practical ways to be better to the Earth.
  16. 3D Art:  Amaze your friends with your skills in three dimensional media.  We will explore sculpture, fiber arts, mask making, relief sculpture and clay.  Don’t miss your chance to show   off your creative side.
  17. Beginning Drawing and Painting:  Use a variety of techniques and media to explore new ways to draw like a professional.  Learn portrait drawing and how to show perspective.  Have lots of fun with unique techniques and various types of paints.
  18. Clogging:  Get those feet moving in this session where you will learn the official state dance of            Kentucky.  No special shoes required as you learn with a long time clogger who has danced internationally.  Learn where this fun style comes from and its history as well as basic clogging step
