We thought it important to provide accurate information regarding the weather-related events of the day.
Some schools have had power outages today, including the campus of Scott County High School as well as Anne Mason Elementary and Royal Spring Middle School. We were in contact Kentucky Utilities at 7:30am at which time we were advised that the electricity would be on in about two hours. We know that they are working to restore power as quickly as possible but the extended power outage has caused a disruption of the day's normal schedule.
Superintendent Dr. Kevin Hub has visited each of the impacted schools. Nutrition staff provided breakfast and lunch meals at all schools today. The maintenance team has been diligent with plumbing issues to make certain schools are clean and toilets are flushing. Teachers and staff have done an exceptional job making the best of a difficult situation.
Some parents have elected to sign their students out of school on these campuses. The absence will be excused and students will be able to make up missed work.
We appreciate your patience and understanding.
There will be no Stables afterschool care at Anne Mason. Both Royal Spring Middle and Scott County Middle have cancelled all afterschool activities. There will be no play practice at Scott County High School but all athletic teams will practice as usual. These cancellations are accurate as of 2:00pm.
