A minority parent election is needed for our School Based Decision Making (SBDM) council due to no minority being elected in the previous election. Since we have an 8%+ minority enrollment, the statute states that a minority election must be held. Minority members must be American Indian; Alaskan Native; African American; Hispanic, including persons of Mexican, Puerto Rican, Cuban, and Central or South American origin; Pacific Islander; or other ethnic group underrepresented in the school.
If you are interested in serving on SBDM as the minority parent and meet the criteria for parent member (parent must have a student currently enrolled K-4 or pre-enrolled for kindergarten) as well as the minority criteria, please submit your name to me at firstname.lastname@example.org by Monday, May 23rd at 3:00 pm. A ballot will be made available to all parents on Wednesday, May 25th and Thursday, May 26th in the front office during school hours. You will be asked to sign your name on the list of who voted before receiving your ballot.
