In recent days, there has been a lot of information about public pension reform in the state of Kentucky. It is important for each SCS employee to be informed about your current pension system so that you can better understand the proposed changes and how these changes might impact you.
This week, Superintendent Dr. Kevin Hub shared an overview of the current teacher retirement system (TRS) as well as the classified retirement system (CERS-NH) during town hall meetings with nearly 200 employees attending two events.
Below you will find a video segment of Dr. Hub's presentation during the meeting hosted by Scott County Education Association (SCEA) as well as a copy of the presentation slides. You will also find copies of information sheets provided for both the TRS and KRS (CERS-NH) systems as well as the bullet points outlined in Governor Bevin's "Keeping the Promise" framework.
This framework, and Governor Bevin's press conference on Oct. 18, have generated many questions and concerns for our employees. This site will be updated as soon as additional information regarding the proposed legislation becomes available in hopes of answering these important questions before any legislation is passed.
