Annual Holiday Cafe Provides Food for Thought
The 15th annual Holiday Cafe at Stamping Ground Elementary School was the culmination of an economics lesson for students of all ages. It started as an effort for fifth grade students to earn money for special activities by serving breakfast in the style of a restaurant to parents and community members. The Cafe has evolved during it's 15 year tenure. Fifth grade students still host the restuarant and serve as wait staff and cashiers.
The Holiday Cafe also offers a gift shop. Students from all grades develop a business plan to make and sell ornaments and holiday keepsakes. The young artisans then work their booth through the duration of the Holiday Cafe to sell their items and ensure customers have the decorations they need to adorn their homes this holiday season.
