Family Resource Information

The Social Skills group focuses on helping children to develop the skills necessary for successfully building and maintaining friendships. Topics covered include sharing, cooperating, effective problem-solving, perspective-taking, phone etiquette, complimenting, and more. The group will meet once per week (ages 8-10 on Tuesdays; ages 11-13 on Thursdays) from 5:00-6:30 pm for 10-12 weeks throughout the fall semester.

The Anger Management group focuses on helping children to recognize and effectively cope with angry feelings. Topics covered include identifying emotions, effective relaxation strategies, problem-solving, perspective-taking, reversing negative thinking patterns, generating alternatives to acting out, and more.  The group will meet once per week on Wednesday evenings from 5:00-6:30. Children ages 8-12 are welcome to apply.

The Parenting Skills group is offered in conjunction with the Anger Management group for children and involves helping parents to manage their children's negative emotions and behaviors. Topics covered include implementing a successful behavior management program, using effective rewards and punishments, finding ways to combat common parenting challenges, and more. The group will meet once per week at the same time as the Anger Management group (Wednesdays from 5:00-6:30).  Parental participation in this group is mandatory for admission into the children's Anger Management group.
