This letter is to inform you of a rumor circulated today at Georgetown Middle School. Students brought to our attention the possibility of explosives being in the school. An appropriate search was conducted and there was no evidence of explosives being present in or around the building. We are in the process of working with the Georgetown Police Department. The facts point to this as a rumor with no intent for harm, but one which required proper investigation.
We encourage parents/guardians to talk to students about the importance of sharing information with adults. We also want to remind students to report any incidences involving student safety on or off campus to a school administrator immediately. If you have any questions, please feel free to call me at 502-863-3805.
We are especially proud of our students who felt they could share important information with school personnel allowing the quick response regarding school safety.
The intent of this letter is to ensure that all stakeholders are receiving the correct information.
Principal, Georgetown Middle School
