Just after noon on August 20, 2014 we were informed of threatening phone calls pertaining to Scott County High School.  Together Georgetown Police Department and the Scott County School District investigated the situation.  According to this investigation, the unconfirmed threat was a prank.  All necessary precautions were taken in this matter.  It was quickly determined that students/staff were never in danger.  The Scott County School District and Georgetown Police Department work together closely to ensure the safety of students and staff.

The Scott County School District and Georgetown Police Department will continue to investigate to determine the source of the calls.  Scott County Schools would like to commend the efforts of Georgetown Police Department in their quick response to this matter.

Important Information

A threatening anonymous voice mail message was received at the Central Office of Scott County Schools.  School district personnel worked in collaboration with Georgetown Police Department and Scott County Sheriff’s Department to investigate.  The call was traced to a student.  At no time were students and/or staff members in danger.

The Scott County School District, Georgetown Police Department, and Scott County Sheriff’s Department respond together to ensure the safety of all students and staff.  We would like to express our appreciation to community law enforcement personnel.

Informational Notice Referencing Lockdown

Five of our schools (Anne Mason, Royal Spring, Scott County Middle, Scott County High, and the 9th Grade School) went into lock down today for a brief period of time after students outside at Anne Mason thought they heard gunshots in the neighborhood.  Law Enforcement immediately investigated and determined that the noise came from a car backfiring.  Everyone was safe and we want to compliment and commend our schools and local law enforcement for handling things appropriately.

Important Announcement Exclamation Point

Attention Parents:
Suicide is the second leading cause of death among teens in KY.  In an attempt to address this problem the state requires schools to deliver a program to students designed to reduce the risk. SCHS, ECS and the 9th Grade School will deliver a state-approved program to students prior to September 1. We share this with you now so that you are aware that the topic will likely be on your student’s mind, and you are prepared to provide additional support. This mandate is in its third year, so the topic is not new to your student.
