Election for Minority Representative on the School Based Decision Making (SBDM) Council

5-19-16

Dear Garth Families,

A minority parent election is needed for our School Based Decision Making (SBDM) council due to no minority being elected in the previous election.  Since we have an 8%+ minority enrollment, the statute states that a minority election must be held.  Minority members must be American Indian; Alaskan Native; African American; Hispanic, including persons of Mexican, Puerto Rican, Cuban, and Central or South American origin; Pacific Islander; or other ethnic group underrepresented in the school.

If you are interested in serving on SBDM as the minority parent and meet the criteria for parent member (parent must have a student currently enrolled K-4 or pre-enrolled for kindergarten) as well as the minority criteria, please submit your name to me at susan.armishaw@scott.kyschools.us by Monday, May 23rd at 3:00 pm.  A ballot will be made available to all parents on Wednesday, May 25th and Thursday, May 26th in the front office during school hours.  You will be asked to sign your name on the list of who voted before receiving your ballot.

Thank you,

Suzy Armishaw, Principal

Informational Notice Referencing Lockdown

Five of our schools (Anne Mason, Royal Spring, Scott County Middle, Scott County High, and the 9th Grade School) went into lock down today for a brief period of time after students outside at Anne Mason thought they heard gunshots in the neighborhood.  Law Enforcement immediately investigated and determined that the noise came from a car backfiring.  Everyone was safe and we want to compliment and commend our schools and local law enforcement for handling things appropriately.

The Adventure Begins

Back to school a success for Scott County Schools.

Thank you for coming to Garth's Open House!

Hello Garth Families!! Thank you so much for coming to the Garth Open House-Orientation last night!! We are looking forward to a wonderful school year.

Please remember to return the orange Backpack Information Sheet filled out if you took it home with you. For the safety of all students, we will place the top portion of the information sheet in your child's backpack on the first day of school. This orange card should remain in your child's backpack all year.

Tuesday, August 6th is the first day of school. Please make sure your child is dropped off between 7:20 and 7:40. Also, remind your child how he or she is going home from school.

Please save the date of Tuesday, August 20th for Garth Parent Night. This night is planned for parents only to come hear about curriculum, class rules, expectations, and procedures. Children who attend must sit quietly with their parents in the classroom.

Our fabulous PTO is working very hard this year to support our school. Thank you to them for getting the hotdogs, chips, and water donated for our Open House. Please sign up to help on a committee and become a Garth volunteer. We hope to see you volunteering soon!!

Thanks again for your attendance last night. See you on Tuesday!

Respectfully,

Mrs. Armishaw
