Welcome to my online classroom. My name is Stephanie Carrico and I teach 7th and 8th grade math at Royal Spring Middle School. I was born and raised in Lebanon, KY where I graduated from Marion County High School in 2002 and went on to pursue my education and my dream of playing college softball at Georgetown College. While at Georgetown College I played on the softball team for 4 years and graduated in 2006 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education and a minor in mathematics. I spent a year and half substitute teaching in Scott County Schools while working on my masters degree at Eastern Kentucky University. In 2010, I graduated from EKU with my Masters of Education degree with an emphasis in Reading and Writing.
In August of 2008, I began my first year of teaching here at RSMS and I can honestly say this is my dream school. I enjoy walking in the door every day and teaching students that math CAN be fun and easy. Along with teaching, I enjoy getting to know my students especially while watching them perform during the extracurricular activities they love. During my time at RSMS, I helped start the Culture Club which took it's inagural trip to England, Ireland and Wales in 2010. I also coached the softball team for 2 years and currently serve as the Exploration Community leader, Math Department chair and a RSMS Teacher Leader.
When I'm not working, I enjoy spending time with my family, coaching travel softball and participating in many different sports and activities. On the weekends, other school breaks and during the summer I enjoy traveling to my hometown to spend time with my family and Jacksonville, FL to visit my bestfriend. When I'm not visiting family or traveling to Florida you can most likely find me coaching or playing softball, going for a bike ride or walking around the neighborhood. I have a great passion for coaching softball and especially enjoy working with younger girls to help them develop their fundamentals and love for the game. I have coached as an assistant at Georgetown College, an assistant for the 18U Ky Sidewinders, a head coach for the 10U Sluggers, a head coach for the 12U/14U Blaze and the head coach of the RSMS Softball Team. In the last few years I have also become more interested in bike riding. In September of 2009, I participated in the Ride to Conquer Cancer and in September of 2011, I participated in the Bike to Beat Cancer both in memory of my dad. For both events I raised more than $3000 due to the generosity of my family and friends which benefited local patients in their battles again cancer.
I look forward to spending the year getting to know each one of my students, teaching them to be mathematicians and teaching them life skills to help them become well-rounded individuals.
