I teach Advanced Language Arts for 7th and 8th graders at Royal Spring Middle School. I am part of the Innovation Community. I also serve as the Writing Coordinator, Literacy Coach, and Language Arts Department Chair for the school. In addition, I sponsor the Poet's Corner Club.
On a more personal note, I graduated from Hanover College with a BA in English and Secondary Education; and, I achieved my Rank 1 by means of my Master of Fine Arts in Writing. I am married to a pediatrician, I have five children who live in far-flung corners of the world, and I have one spotted pup.
I have taught adult Sunday School for over 20 years, and every Wednesday evening I teach a class for women called Glory Bound. I enjoy reading theology, and playing bridge and tennis, but my favorite passion is writing poetry. I have a book of poems in the works, and many of my publications can be accessed on the web.
It is my goal to astonish students in some way, every day, in my classroom.
It is my desire that students learn to "Hitch their wagon to a star" as Emerson would say, and to be inspired to "Live the questions" of their lives so that some day, in the not too distant future, they may live their way into the answers (Rainer Maria Rilke).
May it be so.
