NTI DAYS

NON-TRADITIONAL INSTRUCTIONAL DAYS (NTI) PHYSICAL EDUCATION OPTIONS

  • Activity should take approximately 15 – 30 minutes
  • Make sure that your parent/guardian signs the sheet so you can get credit
  • IF unable to complete assignment on the snow/NTI day, you have 3 days to make-up the assignment and turn in the signature page.
  • If you need to reach Mr. Swicegood, you can e-mail him anytime during the NTI day at:  scott.swicegood@scott.kyschools.us
  • You can also find this packet on the physical education website on Western’s homepage

OPTION 1

Play an ACTIVE game with your X-Box, Wii, or PlayStation – this would need to be a game where you are actually moving your body (i.e. Wii Sports, Just Dance, etc.)

IF you do not own one of these game systems, you can also search for “Just Dance” or “Just Dance Kids” on your computer or Blu-Ray (ask parents’ permission first!) and follow along with those activities as well.

K-2 – Perform the activity for at least 15 minutes

3-5 – Perform the activity for at least 30 minutes

OPTION 2

Choose from the following OUTDOOR activities.  Grades K-2, perform the activity for at least 15 minutes while grades 3-5 perform the activity for at least 30 minutes.  During the activity OR at the end of your activity, find your pulse and record it for one minute (or you can count it for 6 seconds and add a 0).

  • Shovel snow in your driveway OR help out a neighbor shoveling snow
  • Go sledding near your home or at the park (hint: take your pulse after walking up the hill!)
  • Build a snowman or snow fort
  • Take your dog for a long walk in the snow
  • Throw snowballs at a target (no cars or houses!)
  • IF you happen to go to another location (i.e. Pavilion, Monkey Joe’s , Bounce U, Sky-Zone, etc.), you can count this activity as well – don’t forget to take your pulse!
