WESTERN ELEMENTARY PHYSICAL EDUCATION

GRADING SYSTEM RUBRIC

 

 

Third, Fourth, and Fifth Grade

 

            Exceeds Expectations (S+)

·        Student exhibits above average physical skills

·        Student participates fully in all activities

·        Cooperates well with other students in a team setting

·        Models good sportsmanship

·        Works to help others refine their skills

·        Scores between 90% and 100% on written assessments

 

 

Satisfactory Progress (S)

·        Student exhibits on-level physical skills

·        Student participates on all activities

·        Cooperates well with other students in a team setting

·        Models good sportsmanship

·        Scores between 70% and 100% on written assessment

 

 

Slight Concern (S-)  This may be given if 1 or more of the concerns listed below are present

·        Student is slightly below level in one or more areas of physical skill (overhand throw, skip, etc.)

·        Occasional lack of participation

·        Difficulty working with other students in a team

·        Occasional problems with sportsmanship

·        Student has been unable to participate 3-4 class periods due to incorrect shoes or clothes

·        Student has occasional problems following directions or staying on task

·        Regularly scores below 70% on written assessments

 

 

Needs Improvement (N)  This may be given if 1 or more of the concerns listed below are present

·        Student shows profound deficit in physical skills

·        Student refuses to participate in many activities

·        Student exhibits regular problems in working with others in a team setting

·        Student regularly sits out due to concerns with sportsmanship and attitude

·        Student has been unable to participate 5 or more class periods due to incorrect clothes or shoes

·        Student has much difficulty following directions or staying on task

·        Regularly scores below 70% on written assessments

Below Level (B)  This may be given if 1 or more of the concerns listed below are present

·        Student is below level in one or more areas of physical skill (overhand throw, skip, etc.)

·        Regular lack of participation

·        Difficulty working with other students in a team

·        Student regularly sits out due to concerns with sportsmanship and attitude

·        Student has been unable to participate in 4 or more class periods due to incorrect shoes or clothes

·        Student is slightly below level in one or more areas of physical skill (overhand throw, skip, etc.)

·        Occasional lack of participation

·        Difficulty working with other students in a team

·        Occasional problems with sportsmanship

·        Student has been unable to participate 3-4 class periods due to incorrect shoes or clothes

·        Student has occasional problems following directions or staying on task

 

 

Area of Concern (AC)  This may be given if 1 or more of the concerns listed below are present

·        Student shows profound deficit in physical skills
