NTI Day Plan for Health Class

The Early Days:

Each of the ten NTI days will be devoted to working on the independent reading project which was assigned to you on the first day of the semester.  You will need to read for 15 minutes in the independent reading book you chose for my class.  After reading, create eight (8) questions about what you read, then answer those questions.  Imagine you are a teacher making a test over the pages you just finished reading.  There must be a variety of high and low level questions.  I will grade this assignment based on both completion and the quality of the questions you created.  There are three different ways you can return the questions to me

  1. Online:  Read, then type the questions and answers as instructed above.  Email them to me at cathy.cannada@scott.kyschools.us during the NTI day.
  2. Offline:  Read, then type the questions and answers into a word document.  Print the document and bring it to me OR save it to a flash drive then bring the flash drive to school for printing on the first day back.
  3. Paper:  Read, then type or hand-write the questions and answers.  Bring them to me on the first day back to school.

For my special education students with reading or writing goals, I ask that you read 15 minutes (you will have chosen a book that is appropriate for your reading level).  You will be asked to write four questions and answers.  This assignment may be returned to me using one of the formats above.

The Later Days:

            If you have already finished reading your book, you can spend 25-30 minutes working on part 2 or 3 of the project.  If you work on part 2, email or bring me the completed half page summary as described on the Independent Reading Project paper.  After part 2 is complete, you may begin work on part 3.  For part 3, spend 25-30 minutes working on the project of your choice as described on the Independent Reading Project paper, then give me evidence of your progress.  As evidence, you may take ‘before and after’ pictures and email them to me or show them to me on the first day back, OR you can write a detailed half page summary of what you accomplished.

For my special education students with writing goals, work on part 2 or 3 of your project.  For part 2, you will need to give a 3-5 sentence summary of the book.  For part 3, you will need to work on your project for 20-25 minutes then either take ‘before and after’ pictures to turn in to me (through email, or show me on your phone the next day back) or write 2-3 sentences describing your progress.

This assignment is due on the next school day.  Late points will be given if the assignment is turned in after the first day back from an NTI day.
