The purpose of Geometry is to develop a greater understanding of geometric relationships through the use of visualization and spatial reasoning. Students will be provided with a variety of ways to investigate and discover geometric facts, formulas, and theorems. Such gained knowledge will allow students to solve a variety of problems algebraically, graphically, and through the use of mathematical tools (i.e. software programs, compass and straightedge). In addition, students will also develop greater reasoning and communication skills to construct proofs, both formally and informally. Ultimately, students will end the year as better mathematical thinkers for future mathematics courses. Kentucky State Law graduation requirements include the successful completion of Geometry.
