le 13 avril-le 17 avril

le 13 avril--We reviewed adjective agreement.  Students learned about their Fashion Show Project and began planning.

le 14 avril--Students had a sub, completed an adjective packet and did Exercises 4 and 6 on pages 270-271.

le 15 avril--We went over correct answers for the packets.  This took about 15 minutes.  Students had remaining time to work on projects.

le 16 avril--Students will have all of class for projects.

le 17 avril--This is club day.  Students will have review packets so that they can begin reviewing for the final.

le 6 avril-le 10 avril

le 6 avril--We completed a written bellringer for review.  Then, we spoke the questions and answers from the bellringer.  This is linked in the April folder. We learned about poisson d'avril.  There is a homework assignment from a handout.  Absent students can get the handout from me.

le 7 avril--We did an unscrambling bellringer for BAGS adjectives.  We put answers to yesterday's homework on the board.  We began learning clothing terms using a powerpoint and a lot of discussion.  The ppt is in the April folder.

le 2 mars--reviewed work with sub; took directions quiz; discussed house project

le 3 mars--time to work on house project (juniors were out for the ACT)

le 4 mars--time to work on house project.  These should be completed before class starts on Thursday.  We will use these for speaking and writing assignments.

le 25 février--went over review sheet for directions; re-scheduled quiz for Monday since 1st and 2nd were very short today; this sheet is in the February folder.

le 26 février--review for quiz; took notes on rooms of the house

le 27 février--had sub while Mme. Beckett was at a conference; completed page 201, ex. 6; read 204; completed comprehension questions on 205

le 19 janvier-le 23 janvier

le 21 janvier--We watched "le verbe aller," a catchy and crazy song about how to conjugate aller.  We read and discussed 206-208 and completed Ex. 2 on 207 and Ex. 3 on 208.

le 20 janvier--We learned places using a ppt, discussion and page 197 in the book.  Students wrote vocab in their notes.

le 19 janvier--le jour de Martin Luther King

jeudi--practice with question words; the ppt is linked in the January folder.

mercredi--video and listening practice

mardi, le 13 janvier--Students practiced and presented dialogues.  Then, students received a homeowrk assignment that is due Thursday.

lundi, le 12 janvier--We had a quick bellringer reviewing how to create questions.  Then, students had time to work on an interview.  They turned in their written work at the end of class, and they will present their interviews tomorrow.

le 5-le 9 janvier

vendredi, le 9 janvier--We discussed ex. 7 and practiced creating questions.  We did ex. 2 on 107.  Students learned how to use inversion to ask questions.  The handout is linked in the Januuary folder.

jeudi, le 8 janvier--no school--Il fait froid!!!

mercredi, le 7 janvier--Students took notes over a list over question words.  These are linked in the January assignments folder.  Then, we read and discussed page 106, completed ex. 1 on 107 and completed ex. 7 on 109.

mardi, le 6 janvier--We read passages 2 and 3 from "Les Marais."  We answered questions from the passages.

lundi, le 5 janvier--We did a quick speaking assignment ( "Traversez la ligne") and practiced question words.  We used a reading passage called "Les Marais."  Absent student need to get a copy when they return.

mardi—practice with family words and sentences handout

mercredi—être quiz; discuss schedule; begin family project

jeudi—time to work on family project

vendredi— time to work on family project  (Begin speaking tests; You will receive a guide for this).

Family tree projects are due Monday, the 15th.

lundi  (le 15 décembre)—present family tree (Time requirement: _____________); discuss writing practices and skills  (Continue speaking tests if time allows)

mardi—review for test; speaking test
There is a review sheet in the December folder.

mercredi—test on family, être, adjectives  (Continue—hopefully finish—speaking tests) AND written assessment

jeudi—If we have time, we can pick between French holiday cultural information/puzzles/facts OR watching “The Grinch” in French.  If we are running behind, we will use this time for testing, etc.

vendredi—same as Thursday

le 3 décembre--Quick quiz; powerpoint learning places; added notes on places from page 85; practiced talking about places using the ppt and ex. 3-4 on page 86

le 2 décembre--We reviewed être and how to make it negative.  Students will have a quiz on this tomorrow.  We spoke and asked questions using our adjective posters.  All classes completed Ex. 1 from page 85.  1st and 5th also read the dialogue on p. 82.     Quiz tomorrow!

le 1e décembre--We reviewed être, and students learned several new adjectives.  These are linked in the December folder.  Students created an acrostic with their name and French adjectives.  
HW--Students should read their acrostic to a friend or family member.

le 17 novembre- le 21 novembre

le 21 novembre--French Mad Libs!
This was also club day.  Fifth hour had several students leave, so they had a study hall period.

le 20 novembre--written test over common items and the French school system

le 19 novembre--Today students will take their speaking portion of the test.  They will also have time to review.

le 18 novembre--Classes wrapped up discussion of differences in school systems and talked about which they prefer and why.
We looked at pictures and students took turns describing them to a partner. Then, we shared responses.

Upcoming: Wed.--speaking test; Thursday--written test over nouns, prepositions and differences between school systems

le 17 novembre--Snow Day, no school

le 10 novembre-le 14 novembre

le 14 novembre--We described pictures in French (speaking and writing).  Then we discussed differences between schools in the U.S. and France.

le 13 nov.--We reviewed vocab.  Students had time to make a memory game or flashcards.

le 12 nov--Students reviewed nouns by describing pictures of classrooms.  Also, students learned the phrase "Il y a."  Students were given a vocab. list, and they looked up any words they did not know. Students wrote about a picture and what they saw.

le 11 nov.--2nd hour went to a Veteran's Day assembly.  1st and 5th reviewed nouns, added a few more nouns and wrote down the new vocab.

le 10 nov.--We began school-related vocabulary by looking at and talking about pictures.  Students were introduced to the prepositions sur, sous, dans, avec, devant and derrière.

le 7 nov.--Students had a sub.  They took notes on pages 127-131.

le 6 nov.--We finished Nemo and watched some clips in French with French sub-titles.  We discussed differences in the translations.  Students had a translation assignment over the plot of Nemo.

le 5 nov.--We will continue Finding Nemo.  Students should write at least 20 more words/phrases that they recognize.

le 4 nov.--No School; Election Day

le 3 nov.--Students learned the French words for fish, shark and whale.  They also learned I am, You are, He is, She is, We are, You are, They are.  Then we began watching Finding Nemo, and students wrote at least 20 words/phrases that they recognized.  It is great listening practice!

le 30 octobre--QUIZ!  We learned colors in French.

le 28 octobre--We watched a funny Halloween video; reviewed for quiz--see ppt in October folder

le 27 octobre--We watched a Carla Bruni video and a Halloween video; we worked with the vocabulary on page 101 and wrote sentences using the cubes

le 20 octobre--We watched "Papaoutai" by Stromae and "Andalouse" by Kendji Girac.  Then we used pages 84-86 to practice subject pronouns (je, tu, il, elle, nous, vous, ils, elles).

le 15 oct.--We created Arc de Triomphe art.  Absent students should see me for the template.

le 14 oct.--Ex. 1-4 on 74-76--Practice expressing likes and dislikes

le 13 octobre--We learned how to say what we like and don't like.  We learned several verbs for common activities.  Absent students should get notes from a classmate (and from pages 74-75).  We practiced speaking with ex. 2 on page 76.

le 3 octobre--Students took a test over weather, seasons, numbers through 100, food, beverages, ordering at a restaurant, euros and food culture.

le 2 octobre--We discussed some review questions and played a game.

le 1er octobre--Foods Day!!!  We ate and had fun learning about French food.

le 30 septembre--We practiced calculating the cost of items and how many euros we'd need to buy the items.

le 29 septembre--We watched a video about French currency, food and restaurant vocabulary.

le 18 septembre--Students showed or presented weather forecasts.  Students began learning numbers from 60-100.

le 15 septembre-le 17 septembre--Students wrote, practiced, created visuals and filmed their weather forecast videos.

le 12 sept.--Took weather notes; began a project!  Information is available in Links.
le 11 septembre--Created a poster with a box for each season.  Wrote at least four sentences describing the weather and the season.  Included art that corresponds to the sentences.

le 10 septembre--Quiz! Began learning 11 weather conditions and seasons

le 9 septembre--brief review and begin learning weather

September 1-5

September 5--Students learned days, all expressions on page 61 and how to say day/week/month/year.  Absent students should do the bellringer, which is in Links and get a handout from me Monday.
September 4--Students took notes on pages 62-63.  We completed exercises 4-6 on 63.  We did a pairs speaking activity to practice saying the date.

September 3--Students had a sub, and the made a collage about a month.

September 2--Learned the months and took notes on how to write dates; students could choose to write the months 20 times each or create a sing a song with the months.

September 1--No school, Labor Day

August 25-29

August 29--Students had a quiz on time.  Most classes were shortened due to homeroom.

August 28--Students reviewed time at http://quizlet.com/1972033/telling-time-24-hour-clock-flash-cards/

August 27--We reviewed time with pages 56-59 of the textbook. We practiced 24-hour time using these exercises.

August 26--We practiced time by making clocks, saying times in groups and seeing if others could make their clocks match what we said. Then we watched the textbook series' DVD about telling time.

August 25--We took notes on telling time and practiced with a worksheet. These are available in the Files/Links folder.
