Community Redistricting Forum Scheduled

Important Information

Meeting Notice: January 11, 2018 at 6:00pm at SCHS

The Scott County Board of Education, Superintendent Dr. Kevin Hub, and district leaders are busy preparing for the opening of not one, but two, new schools in August 2019.  Establishing attendance boundaries is a very important component of the planning process.  Scott County Schools will host a redistricting forum on Thursday, January 11, 2018 from 6-7:30pm in the auditorium of Scott County High School.

On the agenda, Superintendent Hub will outline the proposed elementary, middle, and high school attendance boundaries effective in August 2019.  This proposal offers a long-term solution to meet the needs of our growing, thriving community.

Developed after weeks of research, the proposal gives special attention to proximity, length of bus routes, elementary and middle school feeder patterns, and natural boundary lines in addition to current enrollment and projected growth.  In a community of our size, with unprecedented growth, it was important minimize disruption to families in the coming years.  This plan will include new attendance boundaries resulting from the opening of Great Crossing High School and Creekside Elementary School as well as a way to accommodate growth in our middle schools.

Please join us at the redistricting forum on Jan. 11 to learn more about the proposed plan.  The forum will allow for audience questions and community feedback.  It is our hope that early, clear, and ongoing communication will alleviate your concerns and provide more than 18 months for families to prepare for this change.

Information will be posted on the Scott County Schools website (www.scott.kyschools.us) as well as the official Scott County Schools Facebook page (@scottcoschools).  Sign up for text and e-communication messages from the Scott County Schools website to receive up-to-date news and announcements.
