Principal Brent Allen had a great first day of school at Western Elementary. He could easily relate to his students, especially those who were a little nervous to start the year at a new school. Allen comes to Western from Royal Spring Middle School where he most recently served as Dean of Students.
“I am extremely excited and very humbled by the opportunity to serve as principal at Western Elementary,” Allen stated.
Allen is a former social studies teacher serving at both Royal Spring and Lexington Christian Academy during his 14-year tenure in education. He received his Bachelor of Arts in political science from the University of Kentucky where he also earned a Master of Arts with initial certification in social studies. Allen earned an Education Specialist degree and Rank I certification in educational leadership from Asbury University. He is also a Battalion Commander in the United States Army Reserves.
“Brent Allen has proven himself to be an outstanding leader, especially in the areas of communication, collaboration, and culture. He brings a wealth of skills and experience to the role of principal. We are excited about the potential for growth at Western Elementary School under his leadership,” stated Dr. Kevin Hub, Superintendent of Scott County Schools.
Western Elementary School welcomed more than 600 students on the first day. Earning a distinguished ranking from the Kentucky Department of Education for multiple years, the school has a long-standing tradition of excellence. From his experience, Allen brings a strong understanding of the college and career skills that students at Western will need in the future.
“I look forward to working collaboratively with the Western Elementary team to build on their enduring legacy of success in the years to come,” Allen reflected. He and wife Julie live in Georgetown with their four children.
