Howatt Named Director of Human Resources

Scott County High School Principal Frank Howatt has been selected as the new Director of Human Resources for Scott County Schools.   Howatt has served as Principal of Scott County High School for eight years and did not take this decision lightly.  His dedication to SCHS is evident in the announcement of his new position to staff.

“The move was a very difficult decision for me.  I tell everyone who will stand still long enough to listen that I LOVE working at SCHS. It’s not easy work, but it is rewarding work that we all know is of the highest importance. And honestly, I’ve had a lot of fun too.”

Superintendent Patricia Putty will work closely with the Scott County High School SBDM to fill Howatt’s position and prepare for the start of school August 5, 2015.  During Howatt’s tenure, Advanced Placement enrollment at SCHS has increased with more than 1300 students enrolled in 21 advanced courses.  ACT scores for juniors are in the top 10% in the state of Kentucky.  Students graduate from SCHS college and career ready.  As Principal, Howatt worked closely with key leaders at Elkhorn Crossing School, Scott County Ninth Grade School, and Cardinal Academy to ensure quality education for all students grades 9-12.  In his new role, Howatt will lead the Department of Human Resources in our growing district.  Scott County Schools is one of the largest employers in Scott County with more than 1000 employees.

Howatt earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Stockton State College in New Jersey before earning Master of Science and Instructional Leadership degrees from the University of Kentucky.  Prior to his role as SCHS Principal, Howatt served as Assistant Principal and Principal of Scott County Ninth Grade School where he was also a teacher.  In 2015, Howatt was named Administrator of the Year for Scott County Schools.
