Summer Camps Enhance Opportunities for Students
This summer ESL (English as a Second Language) teachers met with 20 students during their recent two week summer camp. A highlight of the camp, the introduction of the Apple iPad. ESL students explored learning games to strengthen language skills and reading comprehension. Students, and families, benefit from individualized instruction as they read books, refresh math basics and work on the computers.
When asked what you have learned during camp, one bright eyed little girl responded, "I learned to read in Spanish." This enlightening experience was a wonderful opportunity for teachers Ruthie Gray and Clare Neeson to stay in touch with students while building a strong support network with the families they serve.
To make the summer complete, each day also allowed time for play as students enjoyed the beautiful playground at Garth Elementary School with popsicles in hand.
