A Teacher's Work Is Never Done
Last year the Kentucky Board of Education adopted the new Kentucky Core Academic Standards. This important work outlines content standards for students throughout the state. The requirements set forth by Senate Bill 1 seek to ensure every graduate in Kentucky is college and career ready.
During the past weeks, teachers from every school in our district have gathered with colleagues teaching similar content and grade levels to breakdown these standards for the benefit of students in Scott County. Teachers are translating identified learning targets into language easily understood by students who will be able to articulate the intended outcome of each classroom lesson.
This week, nearly 350 teachers came together for the Technology Jubilee made possible by District Technology Coordinator Jeanne Biddle. Colleagues shared best practices in technology during numerous sessions which included:
- Social Media and Professional Communication
- Using Google Docs, Twitter and Blogspot in a Collaborative Effort with Teachers, Students and Parents
- Glog: Digital Presentations
- What a SMARTboard Can Do For You
- Using iPods in the Classroom
