Kerrie Katz is the new Interim Principal of Royal Spring Middle School. Katz was most recently Assistant Principal at Scott County High School where she also served as Dean of Students. She returns to RSMS where she taught Special Education. With 11 total years in education, Katz has taught Special Education at middle and high school levels in both Missouri and Okinawa, Japan. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Sports Management from Southwest Baptist University. Katz holds a Master’s of Education from Missouri State University and an Educational Specialist certification from Southwest Baptist.
“Kerrie Katz is an enthusiastic and visionary leader who understands the importance of engaging all stakeholders in working together to provide students a world class education,” commented Clay Goode, Director of Middle and High Schools. “Her knowledge, skills, and experience as a middle school teacher and high school administrator will ensure that all RSMS students achieve at the highest levels.”
Katz fills the position left vacant when Interim Principal Keith Griesser accepted a new role with the Kentucky Department of Education as part of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) approved by the Scott County Board of Education. The position has been filled on an interim basis since Principal Shannon Gullett accepted a similar role in 2015. As part of the agreement between the Scott County Board of Education and KDE, educators selected to serve in various capacities at the state department have their positions secured until the end of the MOA contract.
