STUDENT ANNOUNCEMENTS

***Boo-grams will be sold in the cafeteria for $1 beginning tomorrow through October 31st .

 

*FCA will meet in Ms. Williams room 10/26/17 til 4:15.  All students welcome

 

****Here are the activities for each day during Red Ribbon Week. We will also make announcements of these each day. Please encourage your students to participate!!

Monday 10/23/2017- Wear Red day to show you are drug free

***Monday we will also be having the students sign a pledge to be drug free in the cafeteria during lunch.

Tuesday 10/24/2017-Team up against drugs- Favorite sport team attire

Wednesday 10/25/2017- Sock it to drugs- Crazy Sock day

Thursday 10/26/2017- Put a lid on drugs- Hat day

Friday- 10/27 - no school

Monday 10/30/2017-SCMS spirit day

Tuesday 10/31/2017- Say boo to drugs- costume day. (Costumes must be in dress code and not include masks or fake weapons)

    Attendance Announcement

***Reminder:  Personal and Out of town reasons are unexcused

Student Success in school is directly tied to attendance.

If a student is absent from class, signs out early or is tardy missing any part of the school day he or she must provide a note from the parent/guardian. The student has five (5) days to turn the note in upon returning from the absence. Excuse notes are available beside the sign in/out sheet. No note results as an unexcused absence.

Only six (6) parent notes are allowed per school year. Doctor’s excuses do not count toward the six days of excused absences. Absences are ONLY excused for the following reasons.

  • Illness
  • Death or severe illness in the pupil’s immediate family. (days determined by circumstances)
  • Medical and Dental appointments will be excused only for the time required for the appointment, unless specified by the doctor.
  • Religious holidays and practices.
  • Court appearance when the student’s presence is required by subpoena or citation.

Parents can choose one of the following ways to turn their note in.

  • Student can hand deliver note to the front office

Middle School Wrestling Practice starts October 9th

Where:  Scott County High School Wrestling Room (White building between High School and Middle School When: Official Practices start October 9th and are Monday-Friday 6:15 PM- 7:45PM (If you are currently participating in a Fall Sport then you may begin practice once your season concludes)

Athletes will need to register for a USA Wrestling Card at http://usamembership.com/  select the $15 option under the Scott County Youth club and bring a copy of the card and a physical completed within a year.  You will also need to provide coaches with a recent copy of sports physical, if you already have one on file for a fall sport this will be sufficient. Interested athletes are encouraged to stop by to learn more about the sport and observe a practice. Bring some wrestling/ running shoes and workout clothes. No street shoes will be allowed on the mat. ***Fall Baseball Workouts will begin on Tuesday, September 5th.   The workouts will be Tuesday and Thursday each week until Fall Break and the schedule after Fall Break will be announced at a later date.  (Due to weather cancellations, there could be additional days added to the weekly schedule. but advanced announcements will made if deemed necessary)    Each workout will last from 4:00pm to 6:00pm, unless otherwise announced in advance.     

If you are interested in trying out for Freshman Baseball in the Spring and not playing another Fall sport, you are encouraged to attend these workouts.   Also, you will need an updated physical to workout.

*** If your child needs any type of medication or cough drops at school, there is a form that needs to be filled out either just by the parent if it is an over the counter medication or by a parent and physician if it is a prescribed medication.  If it is an over the counter medication, please send an unopened bottle and the signed form and we can see that your child gets their medication as directed on the bottle, when needed.  If it is a prescribed medication, please bring in a form signed by the child’s physician and the medication needed for that child.  The form and the pharmacy label MUST match.  Please do not send any medication that is outside of its original container.  ALL mediation that is to be given at school MUST  be in its original bottle or package. 

If your child is sent home for a fever, please be aware that the child can’t return to school until they are fever free (less than 100 degrees) for 24 hours without a fever reducer given.  Thanks!

***The Youth Service Center would like to collect some data to see what programs would best assist you and your child. Please answer according to your family’s needs. This survey is to remain anonymous , but you are welcome to complete the Referral form you also received, which will allow you to leave  your name and contact information if you see a particular issue that you or your family may need assistance with. This survey is strictly anonymous, and is used only to gauge our parent/ family needs here at SCMS, in order to offer programs and assistance best suited to help our students and families. **If you have jeans or shorts in women’s sizes 2-10, the Youth Service Center would love your donations! You may drop them off here or call Mrs. Sturgill to schedule a pick-up/ drop-off time
