Disaster Relief

I would like for SCMS to join the other two middle schools in collecting items for the victims and first responders from last week’s weather disasters.  I am asking students , staff, and our Beta club to help with the effort to collect and organize goods that can be used to help with this relief.  If you are part of the social media world (facebook, Twitter etc.) please help get the word out.  We will be collecting donations this week.  Anyone wishing to donate can bring the items to the school.  You can visit http://kyem.ky.gov/recovery/pages/VolunteerCoordination.apsx  to see items needed.  Below are some possible ideas.

Cleaning Supplies

Buckets, Mops, Brooms, Bleach, Sponges, Paper Towels, Rubber Gloves, Hand Sanitizer, Cleaning Solution, Garbage bags.

Food/Drink items

Canned Potted meat, Vienna Sausage, Beanie weenies, can fruit, Peanut Better, Canned Soup, Bottled Water both gallon and individual

Hygiene Items

Toilet Paper, Toothbrushes, Toothpaste, Face Wipes, Deodorant, Lotion

Paper Products

Paper Plates, Plastic Spoons, forks, Disposable cups and Paper Towels

I would like to challenge each homeroom to bring in donations by Friday.  Teachers keep a tally of the number of items and who brought items in.  The students in the homeroom that brought in  the most items will win a SCMS t-shirt.

Questions, let me know.
