Dr. Jonda Tippins, Principal of Scott County Ninth Grade School, will retire effective August 1, 2017. Tippins has been principal of the school for two years where she has worked for the past 12 years serving previously as assistant principal and dean of students. She retires after 27 years in education.
“It’s been my pleasure to have Jonda as a colleague and friend for nearly 20 years. She has a love for learning and has successfully developed those she leads,” commented Superintendent Dr. Kevin Hub.
During her retirement, Tippins plans to go on a mission trip and hopes to spend more time with her grandchildren, Kinley and Cooper. She and husband Tom have also recently purchased a farm. Tippins advises anyone new to a career in education to be a good listener and a person of integrity.
She reflected on her upcoming retirement saying, “I will miss our staff and students. SC9th is a special place.” The SBDM Council at Scott County Ninth Grade School will soon receive the required training to begin the principal selection process. The position is posted under Working in Our District on the Scott County Schools website: www.scott.kyschools.us.
