Roy Prince has recently been named Director of Transportation for Scott County Schools. For more than 23 years Roy Prince has honed the skills of his trade at the Kentucky Department of Education. His tenure with KDE includes supervising transportation, managing safety programs, overseeing more than 700 driver trainers, and working closely with the Kentucky State Police to administer the Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) test for bus drivers.
Prince has a unique background which has prepared him for his role as Director of Transportation. He has an undergraduate degree from Indiana State University in Physical Education and completed work on his Master’s in Education from Indiana University. He spent 14 years in the classroom where he taught health and biology and coached basketball and track. Prince also served as the University of Louisville Track Coach for seven years.
Prince is clear about his purpose of Director of Transportation, “My #1 goal is to ensure students remain safe.” Prince resides in Frankfort with his wife. They have three children and four grandchildren.
