Dear Class of 2015, Parents, Guardians, and Community Members:
It is with a heavy heart that I share with you the news that I will be departing the Ninth Grade School as principal and have accepted a new position. I will be working as an Educational Recovery Leader @ Newport High School. The school board has approved for me to take a leave from the school district while I am working in this new position. I know that our district and Mrs. Putty will work very diligently to find someone to continue the work that we have been doing. This is a very bitter sweet moment for me because of all the accomplishments, gains, and obstacles we have overcome! We have built solid relationships with each other as a staff and always strived to make decisions based on what is best for students.
One important piece of information I want to share is that our school has never been about me, it is about our kids; after all we exist to ensure students learn at a high level! It is because of the position that I have that I feel a need to compose this letter and communicate my news. I am very proud of our school, our students, our teachers, and our staff! We have made a commitment to Building A Tradition Of Excellence and I think we have built a solid foundation for this to happen.
To our students (The Class of 2015) I would like to wish you nothing but success and a great rest of the school year! It has been an honor to be your principal! I hope that you share my sentiments when we talk about our school, the climate, and the atmosphere that we have built here! It has been my hope and desire that each of our students have a great freshmen year! Students, just remember my challenge to you at the beginning of this school year….”What will we say about you? What will the class of 2016 see and hear about the mark you left on our school?”
I would also like to add that our district and Mrs. Putty have been very supportive of me as I have moved through this process! I appreciate our district administration and Mrs. Putty for their guidance and direction. Scott County is a special place for me as well as the Ninth Grade School! Carry on Ninth Grade, each of you are special!!
