2011 Interim Joint Committee on Education at Elkhorn Crossing School
Representative Ryan Quarles, a Georgetown native and Scott County High School graduate, and colleagues on the 2011 Interim Joint Committee on Education held a recent meeting at Elkhorn Crossing School.
This committee is part of the Transforming Education in Kentucky Task Force whose objectives include improving college and career readiness for graduates, providing early college opportunities for students and expanding the use of technology for learning as part of the reform of academic standards in Kentucky.
Superintendent Patricia Putty and Principal Francis O'Hara offered perspective on the report the committee will generate on career and technical education.
Student Ambassadors from Elkhorn Crossing School were available to lead discussion among legislators. Students at ECS have the opportunity for career focused education in biomedical science, health science, engineering or media arts. The Early College classes offered to Scott County students in partnership with Bluegrass Community and Technical College also take place on the ECS campus.
