Proposal drafts potential boundary lines for Lemons Mill
Representatives of Scott County Schools have worked closely with community volunteers and the Georgetown/Scott County Planning and Zoning to review issues of school size, capacity, demographics, and county-wide growth. The work group has drafted a proposal to redraw boundary lines for Phase I of Lemons Mill Elementary School, which will open in August 2013. An overview of the school and these recommendations will be discussed during an open community forum prior to action taken by the Scott County Board of Education.
Families whose homes fall within the proposed boundary lines have been invited by personal letter to attend an information session on Monday, February 25, 2013 at 6:30pm to be held in the cafeteria of Royal Spring Middle School. If school is cancelled due to inclement weather, the forum will take place at the same time and location on Tuesday, February 26, 2013. To accommodate those who work second or third shift or anyone who may not otherwise be able to attend, there will also be a second session held at 7:00am on Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at Elkhorn Crossing School.
How do I learn more?
Scott County Schools has developed a website to provide an update of the progress of Lemons Mill Elementary School. The link is available from the district webpage at www.scott.kyschools.us by going to SCHOOLS---ELEMENTARY---LEMONS MILL. Phase I of the school, located off McClelland Circle, will welcome approximately 300 students in grades K-5. Neighborhoods included in the drafted boundary line proposal for Phase I include: Aberdine Place, Adena Ridge, Alton Estates, Cassidy Heights, Elkhorn Glen, Harmony Ridge, Lake Forest Estates, Stonecrest, Sunrise Estates, Sutton Place, Villages of Elkhorn Green, and Wyndamere. Additionally, residences along Crumbaugh Road have been included. Our work group continues to review the area and plans to make recommendations for Phase II soon.
