In December, the Eastern Elementary guidance lesson centered around the folk story Stone Soup and the concept of compassion.
In the story, villagers are convinced to add little bits of their food to a soup pot, which, in the end, feeds everyone.
In the spirit of the story, students modeled compassion by donating food items.
When the collection was sorted, the school was able to provide 245 bags of food to families in need.
In addition, three boxes of food were donated to the AMEN House and Eastern’s Backpack Program is now stocked with more than two months worth of food.
