Beginning Monday, April 10 there will be a change in the transportation system at Garth Elementary School. Parent drop-off and pick-up will be at the front of the school, on the Broadway side of the building. Bus drop-off and pick-up will be at the back of the building on the Hamilton Street side. Cars must travel on Clayton Avenue and turn on Hamilton Street to access the parent drop-off loop. Buses will now access the school by turning onto Hamilton from Jackson. This is a reversal from the current bus and parent drop off procedure at Garth.
The first few days there will be extra staff on hand to assist with this transition. Please do not let your children out of your vehicle until you are in the drop area at the front of school. This change allows more cars to line up safely on school property while reducing traffic on city streets. With this more efficient system, we will be able to load and unload eight cars at a time with adult supervision while maintaining enough space for all school buses that serve Garth.
We ask that you be neighborly to those living on both sides of Hamilton Street. If you see someone trying to exit their driveway, please stop and give them space. The graphic below provides a visual representation of the new traffic pattern at Garth beginning April 10.
