Parents to Receive Student Assessment Data

Over the next week, parents of students who participated in state testing last year will receive information about how their child specifically performed on those tests.  For clarity of information, the content areas tested under the K-PREP system are listed by grade level below.  This new testing model also includes End of Course Assessments in English II, Algebra II, Biology and U.S. History for grades 9-12.

Parents will receive a one page (front and back) summary of their child’s performance.  The front of the page shows the student’s actual score and performance level on all content areas that were taken.  The back of the page shows their child’s national percentile on the areas of the test that can be compared with students across the country. To help parents better understand the content on which their child was tested, the National PTA has a valuable resource available to parents which identifies what children will learn by grade level based on the new, more challenging standards in reading, language arts and math.  It also identifies ways parents can partner with schools to meet learning goals for students.  Find it here:

Scott County Schools encourages parents to communicate openly and maintain a working relationship with teachers.  It is very important for parents to set high expectations for students.  Monitoring of homework, attendance and grades are important, too.  For middle and high school parents, the school counselor can help to access your child’s Individual Learning Plan.  Get involved, sign up for your school’s PTA/PTO and take advantage of volunteer opportunities.

For more information regarding student-specific data, please contact your child’s teacher or school.
