For the 2017-2018 school year, Scott County Schools will again offer Non-Traditional Instruction (NTI) days. NTI days will allow learning to continue on designated days when school is cancelled. NTI days count as instruction days and may not have to be made up at the end of the school year if students and staff complete assigned work. In addition to the continuity of learning, NTI days result in a longer summer vacation for students. Our district can use up to 10 days this year for non-traditional instruction.
Listed below are some important points to remember for NTI days in Scott County for the 2017-2018 school year.
? The first two days that school is cancelled due to inclement weather WILL NOT be used as NTI days. These days will be traditional snow days with no assignments to be completed. Students may attend school on February 19, 2018 and March 16, 2018 to make up the first two days missed.
? Students will not attend school on a NTI day. All students will have assigned work to be completed at home on these days.
? The amount of time students spend completing work at home will depend on grade level.
? Most work will be completed online though some paper packets may be sent home. Specific information from your child’s school is included below.
? Teachers will be available 9am-12pm and 1pm-4pm during each NTI day either by telephone or online. Teachers will let parents and students know the best way to contact them.
? Students will be expected to complete all NTI day work and return it when school resumes.
When the decision to use a NTI day is made, Scott County Schools will notify local news channels, post the information on the Scott County Schools website and Facebook page, and send out a district e-communication message. Instead of Scott County Schools-Closed you will see Scott County Schools-NTI Day.
Sign up for e-communications by selecting the Text Alert tab on the Scott County Schools website (www.scott.kyschools.us). Like Scott County Schools on Facebook (@scottcoschools). District and school websites will include specific assignments, links, and resources for work to be completed at each school.
Classroom teachers have provided assignments for your child to complete on their NTI day(s). If you cannot locate your paper copy of your child’s work, you can find the assignments by visiting the Scott County Schools website, finding the link for NTI days, and clicking on your child’s grade level on the Stamping Ground Elementary page. Work is due back to your child’s teacher on the first day back to school after the NTI day(s).
All Stamping Ground Elementary staff will be available throughout the day during the hours listed above to answer questions and provide modifications and/or help for your child, if needed. Classroom teachers are available by email (email@example.com), by phone, and/or through your regular classroom communication tool (Dojo, Bloomz, etc.) Please make sure you know the best method to get in touch with the staff that works with your child BEFORE the first NTI day.
If you do not receive a response from your child’s teacher/aide in a brief amount of time, you may contact the front office staff for assistance.
