Transportation Flood Plan

TRANSPORTATION FLOOD PLAN

SCOTT COUNTY SCHOOLS

Past experiences have shown that certain parts of Scott County are prone to flood when we have high water.  Unfortunately, this makes some county roads unsafe for bus travel when flooding occurs.  For this reason, we are instituting a flood plan in case of high water, flooding, or even potential flooding.  By developing and communicating this plan in advance, we hope to protect instructional time for students.  This is an effort to reduce the likelihood of school days missed due to flooding.

If we feel we need to institute the Transportation Flood Plan, an announcement will be communicated via our webpage, e-communications, and local television stations.  If you have not already signed up for e-communications, please do so at www.scott.kyschools.us.  This will immediately alert you by email and/or text of any weather-related changes in the school schedule or transportation routes.

A study conducted by the Scott County Schools Department of Transportation indicates the following areas are most prone to flood in Scott County.  These areas have the potential to cause the greatest transportation concerns for school buses.  Many of these areas have other points of entry suitable for cars and trucks but not conducive to large buses.  If the Transportation Flood Plan is initiated, we are requesting parents bring their students to the following designated stops to meet the bus in the morning and pick up students at these stops in the afternoon.

Please note, in some cases, this could be a new bus number for students when the flood plan is in effect.  We are keenly aware there are other low-lying areas that may have the potential for flooding; those will be considered on a case-by- case basis.  Affected routes, temporary bus stops, times, and bus numbers are outlined here:
