The May 14, 2013 working session of the Scott County Board of Education primarily focused on the tentative budget for Scott County school district. This discussion, facilitated by Director of Finance, Randy Cutright, was comprehensive and in-depth. Board members carefully considered each line item of the district budget with opportunity for questions and dialogue. Superintendent Putty recommended the board approve a 1% salary increase for all Scott County School employees. The Board of Education will vote on the Tentative Budget at the May 28th Board meeting.
In old business, tabled at the May 7, 2013 meeting of the Scott County Board of Education, members continued discussion of a one year pilot to outsource custodial services at Lemons Mill Elementary, Elkhorn Crossing School, and Western Elementary. With no motion for approval, action related to this topic is no longer being considered by members of the Scott County Board of Education at this time.
Those requesting to address the board included active community leader, Bias Tilford, regarding upcoming events to celebrate the Emancipation Proclamation. Board member, Haley Conway, outlined several points he would like the Board to consider in the upcoming months.
