An incident occurred this morning that we thought important to bring to your attention. A student who attends Anne Mason Elementary School reported being approached by an unknown person while waiting at a bus stop. The student did what she had been instructed during lessons on stranger danger and ran to a safe location. The police were contacted and they continue to investigate this incident. Georgetown Police Department will also increase their level of supervision during morning bus runs in this area.
We encourage parents to accompany children to the bus stop or have students use the buddy system at all times. It is important to become aware of the adults in your neighborhood and at your bus stop and report any activities that are out of the norm. We also encourage parents to discuss safety strategies and stranger awareness with children.
The safety of our students is a top priority for Scott County Schools.
