The Scott County High School baseball team won their second consecutive region 11 title to advance to the state competition. Last year they played in the state quarterfinal game for the first time in school history. The Whitaker Bank/KHSAA state baseball tournament begins Thursday at the Whitaker Bank Ballpark in Lexington.
The Cardinals will face the Caldwell County Tigers at 6:00pm on Friday, June 9. Tickets are available online at www.ticketreturn.com. With a deep bench and great coaching, SCHS has won 18 of their last 20 games. Scott Willard is the head coach for the Cardinals assisted by Tyler Fendley, Steve Marks, Mike Ritchie, and Greg Stratton.
With 21 players strong, the Cardinals are set to bring home the state title. “We have a phenomenal ball club at SCHS,” stated Athletic Director D.T. Wells. “With back-to-back championships in a very competitive region, our talented student athletes and dedicated coaches are ready for the challenge.”
