We are closing in on the end of an amazing school year, and I just want to thank you for your ongoing support for our school and your students! As we finish the year out, I want to highlight a couple of key points for the last weeks of school:
Attendance: Attendance has been outstanding! Well done! KEEP IT UP! Thus far, the attendance for this year has been at 96.63% despite a blight of illness earlier this year that impacted the entire district. We are so fortunate to have engaged families and appreciate that you prioritize and VALUE attendance. As we finish the year, please know that each day matters as we work through KPREP testing, the district wide attendance contest, and just positive learning. If we can help you in any way, please let us know!
Parent Outreach: I love the parent engagement that we see at this school. We have so many that go the extra mile and more to volunteer. As part of that, I am very interested in hearing more from you about what you love about Western and what you would love to see happen at Western in the years to come. Please consider filling out this survey to provide your thoughts to our staff and SBDM Council: https://goo.gl/forms/GlY8Z5kJlbTjkZdD3.
Data Based Results: District recently released a summation of performance for all schools on MAP testing, and Western performed relatively well on this overall assessment with 100% of grades scoring above national norms. If you would like to review this data, please visit our school website at: http://www.scott.k12.ky.us/11/News/44046#sthash.dD6fEA5p.dpbs.
Parent Town Hall: Are you curious about things going on at Western? Do you have general questions? I would like to invite you to our first “Parent Town Hall” on Thursday, May 25th, from 8:30 to 9:00 AM in the Western cafeteria. This is simply an informal opportunity for anyone to stop by and meet with me to discuss any concerns that you have at Western. I would like to standardize this to a monthly event in the future and also plan to set up an afterschool event as well for parents to meet with me.
Minority Site Based Representative Election: This year, we will need to elect another minority representative to SBDM council. This valuable role is open to anyone of minority status. If you are interested in running, please email PTA and me asap at: email@example.com and firstname.lastname@example.org to inquire and sign up!
Thank you! I appreciate all of your help and dedication this year! Working with so many great parents and students has been a tremendous blessing and opportunity. I am thankful for you!
