Western Elementary Kindergarten and 5th graders collaborated on Valentines Day with Elkhorn Crossing Biotech students to learn about heart health and CPR.
Kindgergarteners visited ECS and were guided through various stations by ECS Biotech students. The kindergarteners saw a sheep heart and were able to listen to their own heart and hearts of their classmates with a stethoscope.
Shelby Pittman and Ashlyn Ewert, from the Health Science Village at ECS, came to Western’s 5th grade rotations to teach students CPR and its importance as a life skill. Our students learned how CPR works on the human body, the steps to administering CPR, and then practiced applying their newly learned skills on the dummies provided by Pittman and Ewert. Western’s students gained a wealth of knowledge and a skill that may come in handy one day!.
