Fourth grade students at Western Elementary worked closely with Media Arts students at Elkhorn Crossing School to create individual videos to honor their grandparents. The collaborative project was part of the school’s Grandparents Day celebration for fourth and fifth grade students.
The 30-second videos were published using Animoto software and were complete with personal photographs, music, slideshow transitions, and special effects. The videos were a method for students to communicate why their grandparents are special.
And why are grandparents at Western special? According to Cathy Reveal’s class, because they bake brownies, visit fun places, are kind, and love their grandchildren. The most popular reason among Western students, they spend time with their grandchildren.
The fourth/fifth grade Grandparents Day welcomed more than 300 grandparents to Western. Families were able to visit classrooms, have lunch, and shop at the book fair.
